Warning strikes in Southwest retail continue

The warning strikes in the Baden-Württemberg retail trade are ongoing. As the Verdi union announced, it called on the employees of 33 companies to go on a one-day warning strike on Saturday. Verdi expects around 300 strikers. Accordingly, Kaufland, H&M and Zara branches should be on strike, especially in Stuttgart, Heilbronn and the surrounding area, as well as Esprit branches in Metzingen and Konstanz and OBI in Bietigheim-Bissingen. Further warning strikes can also be expected in the coming days.

The protest is directed against the current employer offer, which provides for a total of 36 percent more money for 5,4 months. For a term of one year, the union is demanding 4,5 percent more wages and a supplement of 45 euros per month as well as a minimum wage of 12,50 euros per hour. According to Verdi, around 490.000 employees work in the retail and mail order business in Baden-Württemberg. So far there have been three negotiations between Verdi and the employers.
