Hong Kong, Jan.

TCL Electronics (1070.HK) announced today that the company has received the TÜV Rheinland / Privacy By Design logo, which confirms compliance with the cybersecurity standard ETSI EN 303 645, the first globally applicable standard to promote a security foundation for IoT Consumer devices. TÜV Rheinland, headquartered in Germany, is an international testing and certification organization.

TCL is the first group of TV brands to have passed the TÜV Rheinland test based on ETSI EN 303 645 and to receive the TÜV Rheinland / Privacy By Design logo.

“TCL is proud to be one of the first TV brands to receive the data protection logo for our television, which is protected by TÜV Rheinland. This is confirmation from a reputable independent third party that TCL meets the requirements of ETSI EN 303 645, ”said Kevin Wang, CEO of TCL Industries Holdings Co., Ltd. and TCL Electronics.

“Many consumer IoT devices and related services process and store personal data. The EN 303 645 standard can help ensure that these comply with the General Data Protection Regulation - Security by Design. The award of this logo confirms that TCL meets the requirements of the ETSI EN 303 645 standard with regard to network security and data protection and has reached the cyber security baseline level required by the standard, ”said a representative from TÜV Rheinland.

ETSI EN 303 645 specifies 13 provisions for the security of consumer devices connected to the Internet. According to ETSI's Technical Committee on Cybersecurity, the EN standard is designed to prevent the large-scale, widespread threats to smart devices that cybersecurity experts see every day. The standard describes the installation of security in products connected to the Internet in the design phase and also provides a basis for future IoT systems.
