The vacuum pump manufacturer Pfeiffer Vacuum significantly increased sales and earnings in the first quarter thanks to higher demand from the semiconductor industry. According to preliminary figures, sales rose by 25 percent year-on-year to 191,7 million euros, as the company announced on Thursday in Asslar in Central Hesse. The operating result (EBIT) improved by 76,4 percent to 22,6 million euros.
Pfeiffer has done significantly better than expected by the capital market, it said. In addition, the company acquired over a third more orders with 233,9 million euros. Here, too, the higher demand from the semiconductor market played a major role, especially in the last few weeks of the first quarter.
Thanks to the development, the company increased its forecast for the current year. Sales are expected to grow by more than 10 percent. At the end of March, Pfeiffer had only promised an increase in sales of more than 5 percent. The company plans to publish details on May 4th. The share rose after hours.
